October Villager Issue Number 1

As usual, there are many issues with the presentation of items in the Minerva Park Villager.

Issue one that I would like to call your attention to is this, contained in the Mayor's Report:

"On September 23, the Planning & Zoning Commission, with some Council members and residents present, met with Fischer Homes' representatives to review an initial plan of the layout of the full development of the property and to discuss the Pre-annexation Agreement. This was not a public hearing or a town meeting." (emphasis added)

This comes immediately after Lynn's profession that everything is being open and shared with all residents. She then writes that the meeting was attended by "some residents" but it was not a public hearing or a town meeting.

Some of you are still going to insist that there is nothing wrong. Some will still say that I put a negative spin on this and am leaving other considerations out; perhaps there are other considerations--no one can possibly know everything that factors in to any particular action, even their own.

For those of you who feel that way, your opinions won't be changed, and I don't intend to make that so. You have to be the one to decide to change your own mind. Reading this blog is the first step to accepting some of the truths that many seem to overlook consistently. If that's insulting, you should be further insulted by the way that "your" elected officials run this village.

  2. It's hard to say for sure why the Mayor said that the Planning & Zoning Meeting wasn't a " public hearing" because every P & Z meeting is a public meeting that anyone can attend.

I believe that the residents should be given the opportunity to go to the meeting to hear what's going on for themselves instead of relying on what's in the Mayor's Report. I was one of the residents at the meeting and there was a lot more information presented than was in the Mayor's Report.

The statement in the Mayor's Report that bothered me the most was that she said " We must all take responsibility to be informed. Village officials are trying diligently to keep the village website up to date. "

I went to the Village website between the second and third week in September and the August calendar of events was still on there.
It's hard to stay informed when the only "official" sources of information we have is the Villager and the Village website. They both need a lot of work.

  3. If the mayor really wanted residents to be informed they would plan better and publish information regarding various meetings and subjects to be discussed well ahead of time. What tends to happen is little information is presented ahead of time, such as with legislation for pre-annexation agreement that was originally to be passed as an emergency. I am sure many may not care but what residents and how many even knew this was to happen? Better information to the residents will not happen with the 4 persons that are advertised as the 'your candidates' which includes the longest standing member of council and council president.

  5. As far as I am concerned, this is a personal matter. Tony's knowledge of Minerva's park codes and laws far surpass any other candidates/employees knowledge. Please be above mud slinging...

  6. Hello Anonymous from 6:05 PM.
The original post has been removed as requested.

I would like to make a few things clearer.

I do not know the facts or circumstances surrounding the news story that you sited. Neither do you, unless you were there.

I DO however know for a fact that I do not support your short-sighted statement that I "support this kind of behavior." I have NEVER made a statement that says I support anything any candidates for council do in their personal time--regardless of what that may be.

The fact that you make a statement such as this demonstrates your closed mind.

Yes, I do support Mr. Benedetti politically in that he sees what is wrong with this village and wants to do something about it. He has shown more dedication to being present in council meetings and being aware of the facts in this village than most of the current members on council.

No, I do not support anyone engaging in the activities sited by either party involved in a transaction such as that.

Whether there is a connection between that activity and Mr. Benedetti--only he can answer that. And I would bet my savings on the fact that whatever he says you will not believe him because you have made him out to be a criminal regardless of the true facts or circumstances surrounding any story involving him.

I haven't spoken with Tony directly as to why he did not appear at candidates night, but I would bet he chose not to attend because the room was likely filled with folks like yourself that have already labeled him and only wish to put his face in the mud rather than actually *listen* to what he says.

I've again lost faith that this village can be saved, because of this "you vs. us" that is tangible between the current administration and those who question their actions. I'm guilty of this prejudice myself and it saddens me.

  7. Jessica, I think if you really wanted to be objective about the candidates you would let those who wish to bring forth facts about certain candidates. But it seems that you are only taking sides and that IS sad.

  8. The only thing sad is the fact the village gov. Makes the same mistakes over and over and at what cost? We pay the cost! No one has brought up dirt on these candidates and i am sure they have some! The Village has a lot of dirt. Just go to a council meeting and you will see how objective these people are.
Pam has dirt out there but i will not lower myself to talk about it. I drive around the park and see these signs in the yards and you talk about shallow. These folks do not even know anything about the local gov. this includes one of my neighbors. He knows nothing except what he reads in the news letter. That is nothing but bull shit and lies !

  11. Change starts with the leaders of the village. If you want things to get better, you have to change leaders. The village will never get any better with the current administration. The one that keeps slinging mud about Mr. Benedetti is a part of the problem. Instead of talking bad about the candidate, why don't you endorse a candidate that can make the village a better place? Tell us all about what your candidate is going to do instead of trash talking others. Mr. Benedetti has done more for the residents of Minerva Park than the current mayor and council members. If you don't like Mr. Benedetti and Jessica why don't you move or find a new job if you work for the village. Oh, nevermind... You don't live in the village and other departments have already turned you and the Chief down...
    Mr. Benedetti for council!

  13. The fact is that Mr. Benedetti is a "coward" who likes to disparage other people but didn't have the guts to show up to be questioned by residents about his accusations at candidate night. He'd rather sneak out and covertly place flyers on mailboxes! Just showing up at meetings doesn't make one an expert on government. He doesn't even have a full time job (hence not employable). He seems to be pretty delusional to me.

It really seems you are the one that is a "coward" and likes to disparage others. To state things like Mr. Benedetti sneaked out and covertly placed flyers on mailboxes is a bit ridiculous. It sounds like you are afraid he might get elected to council which would make one wonder, what are you hiding?

  14. Was he dressed in a ninja outfit? I highly doubt that he "snuck around covertly" and placed flyers on mailboxes. He doesn't just show up at council meetings. Tony shows the council members and mayor where they are making their mistakes. He teaches them how to do their jobs.
I sure do hope the person that made the above comment isn't running for council. Perhaps you are the delusional or highly impaired person.
    Mr. Benedetti for council!

  15. Was he is a ninja suit? I highly doubt that he "snuck out and covertly placed flyers up on mailboxes. Quit being so dramatic. He probably walked around in day light and placed his flyers on mailboxes. Everyone knows the villager is biased and won't let anyone that the mayor, Sharon Beirman, or Pam Park Curry doesn't approve of.
Tony shows up at council meetings to show the village idiots how to do their jobs. The village won't admit who screwed up the safety levy not being in the ballot issue.Tony wouldn't have needed to put it on the ballot because he won't waste village funds like the current council members.
Sounds like the delusional OR intoxicated person is you Mr. Anonymous posting above.
    Mr. Benedetti for council!

  16. Some people don't know there a__ from a hole in the ground making statements like this.
He doesn't even have a full time job (hence not employable). He seems to be pretty delusional to me.
Maybe he just does not want all you bissy body's to know all his business. I do know what he does for employment and he is dam good at it.
After seeing what they did to Jessica why would anyone answer there questions. The people don't like anyone that does not agree with them.Look at at Charles Legg.

    1. not that my spellings the best but.. your defence of Mr. Benedtti might have been more credible if you spelled "busy" corectly... just saying

  17. Although I also highly doubt Mr. Benedetti "sneak out and covertly place flyers on mailboxes", it would be understandable if he had concerns. Even Council Member Legg was targeted by the village with improper application of codes earlier this year for passing out informational flyers. The person that made those comments and other comments seems to be the delusional and more pathetic if it is one of the village police officers.
