I now have the evidence to back that up.
The very fact that the four of them are campaigning together when there are four positions open and six candidates shows that they're trying to be one side.
I have only received independent campaign material from John Michaels; none of the others have distributed campaign material of their own that I know of. True, campaigning is expensive. That's why I didn't do much by way of fliers when I ran for council two years ago. BUT...it supports the point that it's become "us against them" in this campaign.
There was a flier that went out this week. I didn't receive a copy, my neighbor whose views are well known to support Mr. Benedetti didn't get one, and the two candidates the flier bashes did not receive one either--again, the expense factor could explain, glad they didn't waste their money on us, but if they thought I wouldn't post it online they were more delusional than I thought.
The flier is an outright bashing of the two candidates that aren't part of their clan.

We knew that there would be outright smearing coming. If members of their campaign aren't already on this blog smearing Mr. Benedetti, they've done it publicly with this flier.
If you want "new blood," if you want things to change in Minerva Park, I'd suggest we get a new President of Council. Pam has been the President of Council for at least the last six years. Is she effective? Things won't change until the hierarchy of those in power changes.
They seem to have made it clear that if Tony or Roberto were elected, they wouldn't be prepared to cooperate with them based on the campaign tactics they're using now.
Ultimately, you make the decision when you vote. Whatever that may be...I encourage you to go do it. There is at least one thing I will agree with in this flier...your vote only counts when it's cast.
So...what specifically is untrue about any of the items being reported in this ad? Anything? Placing facts in a campaign ad with sources....that's called campaigning, not smearing. If any of these items is a lie, then it's a smear.
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost campaigning is providing information regarding what YOU the candidate can or will do, and a smear campaign is doing what you can to make the other candidates 'look bad'. How do any of these 'facts' out of context support their claim of Integrity, Communication, Service, or Professionalism? Seems rather PETTY.
DeleteI believe the abstaining and no votes were explained at the candidates night. Communication and especially transparency have nothing to do with an unlisted number, and much less with providing a picture (of course no picture would be better than the old one Sharon B posted of herself). Not to mention none of that shows a refusal to provide a phone number to constituents. I also believe that he mentioned that he felt expenses could be cut instead of a 1% increase doubling income taxes, or at the least not such a large increase.
You call the flier petty for calling out a voting record, then blast Sharon's looks? Stay classy.

DeleteWOW!!! These 4 candidates spent about one whole page dedicated to smearing Council Member Segovia instead of providing a plan of how they intend to provide Service. I guess this is their idea of Integrity and Professionalism using their level of Communication. It is shameful how these people have stooped to mud slinging politics in a village as small as ours. With mentalities like theirs it is no wonder things are so screwed up in Congress. How pathetic!!!
ReplyDeletePublic records searches are great. One can also search the background of the police chief. Hired and endorsed by the mayor and current and past council members. Yet a simple search shows that she was TERMINATED as the chief of the Sandusky Police Department because she has honesty issues.
ReplyDeleteSince she has taken over, moral is down, officer turn over is at an all time high and relations with surrounding agencies has suffered greatly. The Franklin County Sheriff's office now covers / patrols the village for many shifts because the village doesn't have enough officers to cover the shifts 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Something that your tax dollars pay for. She uses the excuse that she can't find enough qualified candidates that apply. I call her bluff. Don't believe me? Do a public records request for your self or talk to Mr. Benedetti. He already has. Now they want to place a safety levy on the ballot? There is no "police fund" so the monies raised could be spent on anything the mayor and council want.
You can also do a public records check on the village maintenance worker. Please check the Hamilton County Court website and see for yourself. These two were hired by the mayor. The chief is a liability. They need to be held accountable for their actions. Mr. Segovia votes with his own mind and not because the mayor wants it that way. Its sad that the four on the flier has to bash the other candidates. Why cant they just promote the positive things they intend to do with the village. Those that sling mud only make themselves look bad. I do believe that is called small man syndrome. Please vote for change. If you don't, you may just live in the City of Columbus soon and your kids will go to Columbus City schools. AND your property values will decline because the Village of Minerva Park will be dissolved.

Not only was our current police chief terminated from Sandusky for not being honest, the civil service hearing officer which had been a judge upheld the termination for not being honest, the trial court judge upheld the termination for not being honest, and the Court of Appeals of Ohio Sixth Appellate District Erie County upheld the termination for not being honest. I believe one of them stated her management style was one of partial truths and outright lies.
ReplyDeleteAnd the village maintenance worker is not just another person, he is our current police chief's husband. On May 24, 2010 the Sandusky Register reported Chief Nuesse dropped a protection order against her husband, as well as her husband "was previously charged with domestic violence and child endangerment in 2000 and 2001 in Wilmington, Ohio, according to Hamilton County Clerk of Courts records".
I think Mr. Segovia was the only council member to vote no to hiring our current police chief and it looks like he had great reasons to vote no.

Minerva Park does not come close to following the law when it comes to Public records and much much more. I would not vote for any of these people after this kid of behavior.Some people think the alternative life style is a sin. I have not herd and trash talk about that??? I think these folks have stooped to the lowest level of people. I am sure Sharron Beirman wrote this trash and right by her side was the TROUT. I personally know a neighbor of the TROUT that said the use to smoke dope with her and her ex husband. So she should get off her pedestal. Hell she sleeps with the fire chief.Counsel brakes the law all the time. Executive sessions every meeting! This Government is corrupt ! The best thing for the residents is to become Blendon Twp.

I've heard Blendon doesn't pay the village any more money for medic services any longer because of the TROUT. Again, not saying that is fact, but what I'm hearing. One should look into this. That's a huge loss for the village if it is true. Because of her personality. A personality that only the fire chief can love..lol.
DeleteSo what we have is four individuals (hand picked by the mayor most likely) for a hate squad against two individuals that speak their mind about the truth. A whole page devoted to political bashing of these two gentlemen is pretty excessive "Personal matters" are exactly what they state PERSONAL! Take a look at the big picture, a corrupt and broken government that needs to be fixed. The Village lacking is lacking funds, mismanagement of money. The village doesn't need a new EMS vehicle or a fire chef. Columbus fire department makes plenty of runs by the park and Blendon township is close by. The one thing we need to do is take care of our police! They do a wonderful job and should be making more money than the mayor! We need to cut costs in the park and her salary should be the first to be cut. Who do you want happy? The Cop chasing the burglar from your house or the mayor? It simple as this, look at the condition of Minerva and who is responsible for getting it this way? Vote for Change, not what the mayor and her minions try to get you to believe. Enough bashing and slinging. Either we move forward or we lose Minerva Park, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
ReplyDeleteAlternative Option, Get rid of the Minerva Park Government! Pay the Mayor next years salary as an advancement! lose the EMS and fire chief along with it. Leave remaining fund for the police only! Then after that's all done the mayor and all her minions will sell there houses and move. Problem solved!

I have met all the people running for Council and I would like to say that I believe that Roberto, John, Ed, and Jennifer would all be good Council members. I also believe that John, Ed and Jennifer had nothing to do with the recent Four for the Future flyer.
DeleteWhat residents need to understand is that there are three main power players in the Village, for many years now, Lynn Eisentrout, Pam Park-Curry, and Sharon Bierman. These three people are the one's responsible for where the Village is at today.
Minerva Park is a Village heading toward the FISCAL CLIFF. That's why I say that the senior leaders of the Village have set the course we are on, and if we are to survive, these leaders need to change.
Tony i would like to know if John, Ed and Jennifer new about this if they did they are just as bad as the other head hunters!

Look anywhere where on this site and the simplest post, like announcing a change in Beggar's Night, degrades to personal attacks on the mayor, police chief, and anyone who disagrees with the loud and very few minority who post threads here. Even innocent family members are not immune. How pathetic!!!

I believe the main crux of comments that have been made are to how petty the campaign flyer is, and that it is more of a smear campaign primarily targeting one candidate for answering questions at Candidates Night (I heard it was the candidate that got the most applause by far) and one candidate for not being at a Candidates Night, as opposed to providing any worthwhile information in support of any of those four candidates. It seems to be a true demonstration that between all 4 these candidates there is obviously nothing note worthy for them to say about their own records or plans, and taking action to disparage other candidates is their best plan of action.
So...you weren't at candidates night.....I was...and heard several ideas that I liked....including some from roberto and some from others. If you weren't there to hear it from their mouths directly, that's too bad for you.

DeleteIf John, Ed and Jennifer did not know about the content beforehand, then it seems extremely irresponsible that the finance committees for each of them as a candidate would pay for it or they would have allowed their names and image to be included in an obvious sign of support for it without knowing of the specific content. If they did not know about it and did not have knowledge prior or were some how duped into 'allowing' it, then what have they or will they do about it? And if so, I highly doubt they have contacted either of the candidates targeted to express any regret.
ReplyDeleteI have to say this is the lowest thing i have seen from Pam Park Curry! I think she has stooped to a new low. She has done nothing for the park. I would like to know when she is going to get the Veterans Memorial done? Harry Toy raised all the money and all they do is sit on it. Pam has told him he was a resident and that is all he will ever be. What kind of person would do that. Harry Toy worked his ass off and he had nervous brake down over this dam place. This women and the TROUT are public nuisance. I hope when the Village goes down they fall with it. They put us in this mess! There never going to get out of it!
