Trash Contract and Addendum

Below is the entirety of the contract with Local Waste and the Village of Minerva Park. After that I have added the Addendum that the Village signed for the residents without their consent. If you need a copy of this as a PDF, please request via e-mail at rhoadsformp@gmail.com. The Village is obligated to provide this to you as well, since it is public record, but I have the PDFs as well.

The Contract:

The Addendum is as follows:

  1. "Village and Contractor agree Residents will pay..." What's wrong with this picture!?

  2. Seems like a shady tax raise to me. This place is falling apart.

Thanks for posting the link on the sign. I would not have known of this blog otherwise.

    Please keep it up!

  3. While I don't believe that the place is falling apart, they have gone about this in the worst possible way.

I'm not sure how they can amend a contract without voting on the amendment while in session, nor how they can suddenly, in the middle of the contract, enter us, the residents, into the contract.

  4. Now i wonder when this Mayor is going to tell everyone that there will be NO more leaf pick up. Yes they have said NO leaf pick up. I am sure it will be 10 days before it starts.
Remember when she ran for office when she said there has been no talk of a safety levy and did not know what it was? Well it will be on the ballot and again they have not told any one.

  5. I heard legislation to amend the contract was done in a special council meeting. It seems like there have been a lot of them in the last few months. What seems wrong with the picture is the village administration pushed this cost from an existing contract directly onto residents with basically no notification instead of budgeting to cover this cost that they knew about. It is not like the reasons given by the mayor about a decrease in revenues and increasing costs just happened overnight. I hear the 2013 budget is the 5th year in a row budgeted expenses have been more than revenue. Just because residents of most surrounding communities pay directly for their trash is not a good reason to change how it was currently being paid via income tax and property tax, and it also is a poor excuse for the lack of timely communication by the mayor. I heard that the 50% for local taxes paid elsewhere is also being discontinued and it appears that has yet to be communicated. Is the mayor and current council the people residents really want making decisions for the village regarding the potential development of the golf course?
